Blocked duct?

Since about 6pm yesterday I've noticed a tender spot on the underside of my breast. I don't seem to have a lump there.

I assume it's a blocked duct, and I've been trying out the usual self help measures - applying heat, massage, breast compressions, dangling my breast over my baby (that was fun) and combing my breast (that was weird).

However it is still painful and I can't tell if it's cleared or not. My baby is 12 months old and I only feed him twice a day now (for the last six weeks) so my breasts don't get noticeably full or heavy these days so I can't tell that way. I've also read that there can still be pain after a blockage has cleared so I am really really confused!

Does anyone have any advice? Thank you!

My only suggestion is to try hand expressing in the shower, and keep and eye on it in case it gets worse.

Hope your OK

I've got a newborn and keep getting blocked ducts due to oversupply. I asked the midwife the same question, and she said you know they've unblocked if the red patches are no longer spreading and start to disappear.
