Hello All, I have a 5 week old baby with colic. I have suffered over active milk production since I have been feeding. I have large sore breasts! My baby feeds well but since the colic she is only feeding each feed on one breast, the other is engorged. Now the question is do I express the other breast producing more milk she does not eat? Or do I feed her 10 minutes on each breast, then run the risk of her only eating the fore milk? When she eats on one breast for 20 minutes she falls asleep and I am unable to wake her, to feed on the other breast. The colic you see keeps her awake so she only sleeps for an hour ish each feed. At 7 pm she starts screaming and wont stop. Last night it took till 3 am to get her to sleep, then she is awake again at 6 am. Only mummy cuddles will do and she does sleep in my arms. Dummy wont do, she hates it. So during the day I just cant keep her awake at all. I have to watch the time and wake her for feeds. This is not much trouble because the colic wakes her up anyway with the trapped wind. Red face, grumbling, and straining one hour before a feed. The effort of filling the nappy :) I would be most grateful for any advice you can give. Thank You.

Thank you I will check her at the next feed. Most of the symptoms on the link are the same as I am getting! My nipple is lemon shaped and I wondered if that was normal.

Is there a la Leche league group near to you that you could contact? They are usually pretty good at checking. Any other bfing support group should be able to check too. Milk Matters do a virtual service but I think they do charge and it might be worth seeing if you have a local Lactation Consultant Smile
