Moving car, unless you're one of those contortionists who says they can bf a baby in a car seat while also buckled in.

There's places that were inappropriate for me because I'd be uncomfortable (bus stop bench, cafes with high stools only, many places while still squirting 6 feet while getting ds latched on...) but not in general. My logic was "would the people here prefer screaming baby or quiet baby with a possible glimpse of tit?" Quiet baby always wins.

I don't think you're allowed to take babies into court flip.

I wouldn't feed her anywhere I felt was too dirty.

I'd rather be exposed than dirty.

Given dd will ultimately feed anywhere my primary concern is not to kill my back in the process. I prefer that over decency as I've come to realise that most people except MIL with camera but that's another story and I love her really are more bothered about not looking and making me feel uncomfortable than I am about exposing myself and I say that as someone who is very shy about showing many parts of my body let alone my breasts.

I do tend to draw the line at most outdoors places now though simply on the grounds it's far too cold!

Not underwater.

Not in a moving vehicle.

Not while undertaking a space walk.

Not while eating a curry (turmeric stains on babygro - personal experience). OK while eating a curry if the baby is well covered up with old tea towels (strategy was adapted....)

Not in a strip club. (Just don't go there).

Everywhere else is fine.

done on a bus as well. I wouldn't if it was quite bumpy though, or if I'm about to get off

The only place I haven't felt comfortable was during OH's Nans funeral so we went and sat in the car. I have once fed in a baby change room and I hated it but as we were in a supermarket and meeting someone for coffee elsewhere after it was the best option.

Anywhere - except the toilet.

I did feed pretty much everywhere. The first few weeks I feed in my car if out & about, but only because I was still struggling to get the hang of it myself. Once I was confident in my 'technique' anywhere & everywhere.

I did have to feed in car in traffic jam when she was 3 days old as I had to go back into hospital and were stuck in traffic on motorway for 2 hours (normally 10 mins ) traffic was just stand still if not snail pace .. after ages of screaming and trying everything to calm her , there was no hard shoulder . I took her out of the car seat while car wasn't moving and fed until traffic started crawling again( mum was driving) she just didn't move and just put hazards on until dd was safely back in car seat .....

tinlegs ... have fed while eating a curry (takeaway at home ) managed without getting a drop on her ..... after 9 months of not being able to eat onions or garlic in any form I was not going to put my fork down for anyone ...

I've joked to DP before that when I sell the baby clothes the ad will say "Baby Dungarees. Newborn size. Some Korma stains on front".

Tinlegs Fri 25-Oct-13 16:53:59

The problem with curry stains is they look an awful lot like newborn poo stains.....I breast fed AND ate curry. No problems with that but one baby really, really didn't have a good night after I ate sprouts and baked beans in the same day.....

Sorry, rockyroadahead, I read that as you giving up curry to breast feed rather than while pg. I had to give it up then for the final weeks...heartburn.

partner and ds had beans on toast after I cooked a rubbish dinner the other night and I opted out and had poached egg instead as I was worried about wind ....... for both of us !

Tried bf in car leaning over to ds in car seat yesterday, stuck in traffic. Gave me a aching back and a sore nipple. Kudos to those that can.

rockyroadahead Sat 26-Oct-13 09:52:41

I saw this on keeping up with the kardashians (yes I watch it please don't judge lol ) and I don't seen how u can actually get it in there without being super bendy however I am intrigued so will definatly be giving it a try to see how it pans out !!!

quick question!!

how do you manage to bf one handed I am finding when I try dd slips off the nipple and I get sore or she seems to suffocate a little bit .

ALSo dd is making a loud sucking noise when feeding and I cant seems to stop it midwife said 'that's just how she sucks ' and checked my latch on and said it was fine but when the room is quiet I can hear her tummy making noises when she is doing it and she seems to be squirming and crying quite a lot in a windy /colic kind of way ??

any suggestions?

rockyroadahead Sat 26-Oct-13 09:53:52

that wasn't really a quick question was it blush

I have 2 car seats one I can feed in the other is nearly impossible, so i think it depends on the car seat.
My dd is the noisiest eater ever. I swear i have to put volume up on tv and people can hear her if im on the phone. (Have posted on here! ) ) she's gaining weight and it doesn't hurt so I'm just rolling with it. smile

I've always fed my babies where ever, whenever and how ever I liked.

zimmyzammyzoom Sat 02-Nov-13 22:37:14

She's only 3 weeks the one handed thing will come with experience. I tandem fed my twins whilst doing all my Christmas shopping on amazon last year. No hands! Good feeding cushion though wink

zimmyzammyzoom Sat 02-Nov-13 22:38:40

Oh and yes I've fed all 3 of my babies wherever they've required it including in church (if it's good enough for Jesus), a stable (ditto) and on a boat on the Thames smile
