my DS is 17 weeks and feeds for 10-15 minutes. I think at 12 weeks he was feeding about 30 minutes.

My dd is 12 weeks and feeds for 40-45 mins at each feed which with nappy changes and winding takes an hour

Mine was the same, fed for half an hour each side at every feed, and I only got an hour and a half max until the next one! He did speed up a lot but not until around 5 months I'm afraid. Some babies are just slow - he's now almost 1 and although a quick feeder these days, he's such a slow eater!

My DS is eight weeks old and feeds for up to 45-60 mins (usually one side only as he falls asleep).

Oftentimes he'll just take a 20 minute snack feed to tie him over.

Weirdly I posted about this earlier this week because I thought he shouldn't still be feeding fir so long and so often- but this week he's suddenly become a bit more efficient and feeds for less time, slightly less often and is sleeping better.

I think the cooler weather is a contributory factor though.

My dd was hardly off the boob at that age. She has a crazy metabolism and wants to eat all the time without gaining much weight. The bfing was hard work, but it was worth it. Try not to worry too much about time (easier said than done, I realise) as long as the nappy end is productive. It will get quicker!

I'd also be tempted to say don't worry about the time and enjoy it, but it sounds like you have three other children including another baby so I guess that will be tricky. Are you coping alright with the long feeds - are the older ones old enough to help out, are you able to feed in a sling etc?

Beansandcheese
That's interesting that you mention about the metabolism as dd3 is not putting on much weight either but I can hear her gulping and she has wet nappies
She also sleeps well at night only waking once and is good with her day naps
And is now having good wake time for upto an hour in day

Could my milk be if poor quality?

My DS never fed for longer than 20mins and normally more like 8-10 (I used to worry it was too little)! Can you master feeding in a sling so you can multi-task a bit?

Sorry, just spotted the reply. Don't worry too much about weight gain either as long as she's active and having wet/dirty nappies. Dd dropped off the weight charts, but piled it on when I started weaning. She's still slim though, but has a slim df.
