Please help! I'm having trouble expressing and nothing left for DS!!

I've just started expressing as I'm trying to build up a frozen stash for when I need to be away from DS. So far I expressed twice yesterday and once today, but only got 1.5oz each time and it takes ages Confused
Also, DS has been really fussy at the breast since I started expressing, keeps falling asleep then waking up a few minutes later hungry still. I've basically been switching sides a lot for 24 hours!
Is he not getting enough milk as I've expressed? How can I increase production so expressing is more effective? I've tried breast compressions, pumping one side whilst feeding on the other and thinking good thoughts! Grin
At this rate ill have to leave formula for him when I'm away Sad

1.5 is good going! Try pumping at the same time every day. After a few days your body will think there's an extra feed needed and up supply accordingly.

Pumps aren't strong enough to do it, but the baby sucking produces milk. So unless there's actually something wrong, there will always be milk.

You don't say how old your ds is, but he may well be preparing for a growth spurt and sucking to increase your supply.

Finally, formula isn't poison. A couple of top ups while you're away is fine, and a far better option than you getting stressed. My ds switched to cows milk on his cereal at 6 months because i couldn't be arsed expressing Blush

What time of day are you expressing? I used to express for my twins first thing in the morning (about 1 hour after their first feed) to use for night feeds, I found I would get twice as much in the morning than in the evenings. Also I had a super fast electric double pump which was very quick, hired it for a few months.
