How many bfs a day?

Just interested really.

My baby suddenly dropped from 10-12 feeds a day to 5 or 6 in the last week or so. She is 7 months old and eating solids really well. After the initial engorgement at such a sudden drop, 5 feeds a day (4am, 8am, 11am, 3pm, 6.30pm) is so unbelievably easy and blissful. I was so exhausted feeding every hour through the day up until a few weeks back (I am lucky that she never fed much overnight though).

I am going back to work when she is 10 months old. Is there any chance she'll be down to morning and evening feeds then so I don't have to express at work? (I work a crazy-busy hospital job and never found the time to wee during 12 hour shifts previously, so really unsure how expressing would work Sad )

So how old is your baby and how many feeds a day? Just to get an idea.

My baby is 10 months and feeds an average of 4-5 times per day at approx. 8am, 1.30pm (usually feeds to sleep for nap), 7.30pm and 2am. Sometimes she has a short feed late afternoon, sometimes has one at 11pm and occasionally has one mid-morning, depends what we're doing that day. She starts at a childminder soon and I'll be doing 12 hour shifts too. I'll leave her two lost of milk to have when I'm gone as she'll have her morning feed a couple of hours earlier so think she might be more likely to have one mid morning, then one for the afternoon. I expect to express once during my shift. Amongst my friends with bresatfed babies of a similar age, several have stopped having feeds in the day, others still feed a couple of times. It is your legal right to be able to express at work, I know on a very busy shift it might be really hard to find the time but that's your employer's problem, not yours, (also obviously in a 12 hour shift you should be having a break anyway!)

I went back to work when DD was 8 mo, only expressed once a day (2 bottles), by 11 months she was just BFing when I was with her at home so (about 4/5 times a day on my days off) so no more expressed bottles, at nursery she was just having water during the day, then cow's milk too from 12 mo.

Carried on BFing til she self weaned at 20mo.
