Frozen bm or formula for day/evening out? EBF baby til now...

Hi,

My baby is 7 months old and EBF. I am enjoying it and intend to BF to a year, then switch to cows.
As part of my work (lucky v flexible, still looking after baby too) I need to go out for a few whole days and a few evenings, and will leave baby with her dad.

Should I express milk and freeze it for these occasions, or just use formula? Formula would be easier but I don't know if there are downsides to introducing a little formula now, or having a rare day all on formula then back to EBF.

Also- baby hates bottle! Have you got any advice for me? First day I need to go out is a fortnights time.

x

Only to with you good luck, being the owner of a EBF who never took a bottle, but happily had yoghurt and a sippy cup of juice when I went swimming in the evening. Then let her dad put her to bed quite happily.

That sounds quite good. Maybe I'll leave those things just in case of emergency! How long did you feed her for? I.e. did she go on to cow's milk out of a cup ok?

Whole days I'd see if you can get DC to drink formula, I never did learn to express.
Fortunately, I'm a SAHM I never had to find the answer to whole days. She was 18 months and able to live on juice and food before I left her all day. She's 12 and still won't drink milk.

Ha! Ok, thank you for this advice, it is very reassuring and useful.

Xposted I BF her forever way into school, but that's another story. As I say she hated milk and has never drunk it.

DH hates it to. Weirdly they both like yoghurt, ice cream and cheese, so she got these and drank juice or (the dreaded on MN) sugar free squash.

I'd build up a stock of ebm if you have time. Less unfamiliar things to deal with.

Yes -- Have you any experience of freezer bags, how to defrost etc? It sounds so tricky. I am ok at expressing, though don't enjoy it.
