Hi, my little girl is 7 weeks old and weighing 11lb 2oz. I am feeding her using Cow & Gate and at the mo she is having 4 oz every 3 hours. I have looked on the formula box which suggests an increase to 6oz at 2 months old when the average weight is 11lb.

I notice that based on this it misses out an increase to 5oz.

As my daughter is 11lb 2oz do you think I should put her up to 5oz until she is 2 months? I know she will drink it so maybe it will keep her fuller for longer?!

Any advice gratefully received!! Xx

Hi. The amounts on the box are only guidelines, but I would think that if she's finishing her bottle every time then she might need a bit more soon (might be a good idea to try it before she starts getting unhappy and needing feeds more often). If she gets plenty of milk during the day then she might go longer at night, if she isn't doing so already. Definitely try 5oz first.

My HV told me they need about 2.3oz for every lb of their weight, over 24 hours, which would be about 25oz for your daughter.

You can only try - if she doesn't drink it then just go back to 4oz and try again a few days later. Good luck!
