Infant feeding

when to express?

Lo is currently 10 days old and ebf which I'll continue to do until I return to work. In a few weeks time when my supply has settled I would like to express and give a bottle of bm occasionally. What time of day is best to express? I want to make sure that I have enough milk to feed after expressing but don't want it to increase my supply? Is this possible?

Congratulations on your new Lo. I was always hopeless at expressing but hopefully this will bump for you Smile

If more milk is removed from the breast more milk will be produced so in essence you can't express without increasing supply.

On that note I'd express first thing in the morning after baby has fed. This means you aren't removing milk baby may need. Supply would up after a few days, and you may not get much to start with so don't worry. The more you express the more your body will make.
