Advice re. weaning 2 year old from breast milk

Hi, my 2 year old is still breast feedling. I wondered if anyone who fed for this length of time had any advice re. weaning a baby off breast feeding. I have a feeling it's going to be quite tough! I've been waiting for a good time to do this as my baby finds it a great comfort when they are teething and ill. Thanks.

Hi! I did this recently - DS was only feeding at bedtime - I started by just feeding DS on one side instead of two (it was the only way I could think of to reduce my milk production). I then started to bring a cup of cow's milk up when putting him to bed and would offer him that if he asked for milk. When he said no then I'd say that's the only milk there was and put him to bed and just offer him the cup of milk and say big boys have milk from a cup etc and it wasn't actually so bad. He does have a big drink of water just before he goes to bed too. If he wanted a cuddle I'd hold him standing up so we weren't in the same position as when I fed him. Also it was easier because DH would put him to bed sometimes. It helped me to reduce my supply further and kept my resolve!

Because I was only dropping one feed I didn't get too sore or anything. I just missed it but knew it was right for us.

I'm sure everyone will have different experiences but hope that helps a bit!
