Bite wound, healing advice please

On Monday eve, 6mo ds bit me quite badly while feeding. It's quite deep and still very painful, and I am struggling to feed him or to express. He is mixed fed, probably mainly formula, but I tend to offer him the boob around 5 times a day, and express about 3 times for one of his bottles. I am trying to keep it moist with plenty of lansinoh. I am wondering if I should try to not feed and maybe only express once in say 24 hours to give it chance to heal, but trying to balance that with how it could affect the supply I have. And also wondering if there is anything else I can do to help it heal. I have been feeding him from the other side so far today, and have fed him once and expressed once from the bitten side, but I don't think I can face it again. Thank you.

Have you tried hand expressing from the bitten side, smk? depending on where the bite is, expressing with a pump could prevent healing as it stretches the skin.

Lansinoh is good stuff; you could see if your doc might be able to prescribe anything as well. Or speak to the pharmacist.

Hi tiktok, thank you for the reply. Yes I have tried hand expressing and it takes me a long time to get anything out. It normally takes 10 minutes for an ounce from the right when I double pump, but pumping the left and hand expressing the right it takes me half an hour to get half an ounce from the right. If I just hand express from the right I never really get much squirting , it's just a drip per squeeze and takes ages to get less than half an ounce. I can feel that the boob is just not emptying unless I pump or feed ds. I have contacted the local feeding advisor to see if anyone can help me improve how i hand express as i have watched videos on youtube but it hsnt helped. Will try ringing the pharmacist I hadn't thought of that. .. We're you thinking they might be able to give a pain killing cream or some healing cream or something?

I was thinking there are other moist wound healing products - Jelnet for instance - and your doc can prescribe steroid cream. Disclaimer: I am not a medic and don't know if these would be any better than lansinoh, and steroid cream may not be suitable.

I found the Multi-mam brand moist compresses really good the time I got a nasty bite from DS1.
