DS is 16 days old - after a shaky start we seem to be getting there in terms of BF. I'm still a bit sore, but the nipple pain is subsiding. He is doing well, lots of wet nappies, and he had regained his birth weight + an extra 200 grams at his two week weigh in.

Problem is it can take forever to latch him on due to his arms getting in the way - he is a really scrunched up baby, likes to suck his hands a lot, and doesn't always see the difference between hand and nipple. I don't really want to force his hands away (and he is really strong anyway) - any ideas what to do? We tend to prefer the cross cradle hold - have tried biological nursing, but he doesn't quite seem to 'get it'...

Swaddle him up and then latch him on.

Stick one arm under your boob? :)
I still have to do this with my 11mo.
