How long to take to stop breastfeeding at 4 months?

DS is nearly 17 weeks and for various reasons I an planning to stop breastfeeding him. Just wondering how long I should take to wind it up?

He is almost exclusively breastfed at the moment and I have just started introducing a regular bedtime bottle. I thought I would then up it by one bottle per week. Any advice or suggestions? I don't want too much of a shock to his system or mine.

Also, how many bottles a day is typical for a 4/5 month old? I fed DD for much longer so its all a bit new to me.

Think the current advice is to drop one feed every two weeks, this should reduce your risk of mastitis.

Not sure on quantities but it should be on the carton. Between 6 and 12 months its 20floz per day.
