Infant feeding

Is there a 12/13 week growth spurt?

My DS has fed constantly from midnight last night. The longest I've had without him attached has been the occasional half hour here and there. Thank goodness my DM is staying and can look after 3 yo DD.

We'd sort of been finding our feet, as it were, so looking for reassurance that this won't go on forever!

I think there's supposed to be one around 3 months so sounds about right. When DS was 12 weeks he fed through an entire mum and baby yoga class, which wasn't like him as had always been quite an efficient feeder. Wouldn't have minded but I'd paid £7 for the class Grin

It's now been 30 hours of actual feeding over the last 36 hours. It will stop, won't it? I can't put him down at all. Going slightly mad. And my kindle is broken Sad.

There's a big development spurt at 12-13 weeks. DS1 used to get particularly hungry before development spurts as well as growth spurts. Hope you're nearly there...

I hope he develops enough to go down to the kitchen and get his own food. He can bring me a drink while he's at it.

DDs did this at about 3 months. It's a few days of mad feeding with a fussy child, then your milk kicks up a notch and you're off back to normal.

I know 16 weeks was a killer for me but suppose they are all different.

Take it 1 feed at a time, yes it will pass x

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm sure it will pass (ready for the next time!)

How are you getting on?

These feeding frenzies did take about a week or so to subside. Should be nearly there if that's the issue. If it's not settling can you find a BF meetup to go to for advice/support. They may be able to check the latch hasn't shifted etc. or reassure you.
