Night sweats

Hi all,
My baby is 8 days old and I am breastfeeding. Every night for the last 4 I am dripping with sweat all night. Is the hormonal changes from breastfeeding? My friend who bottle fed said she didn't have this.

Hi there, I posted about this a few weeks ago, as the same thing was happening to me! (also bf). It stopped after about 3 weeks I think. I never had them with dd1, but lots of people replied to say they'd had them after having dc, so seems pretty normal! Not sure if it's related to breastfeeding, or just hormonal changes in general after the birth. Hope they stop soon, horrid aren't they!

Hey,
You are completely normal, I was told it was a way of your body getting rid of all the water you retain during pregnancy, it does stop eventually!

Oh god yes I remember these so well - horrid. Can't remember when mine stopped, but they did stop!

Yes, I had this too, for about two weeks. Someone said it means you should feed. 'though my HV said I must have an infection and when I couldn't get a gp appointment told me to go to A and E straight away...hmmm

I had this and my female gp prescribed antibiotics for postpartum infection!
Only it wasn't an infection, it was normal hormonal changes due to bf.
Only MN could tell me what it really was Smile

Yes night sweats totally normal. I slept on a towel for weeks, I hated the cold wet pillow when I turned over!
I think it is breast feeding that does it, your body needs to get rid if excess fluid because breast feeding makes you very thirsty.
I can't remember when it stops but it did go on for several weeks.

I had awful night sweats for about 2 weeks. I ended up sleeping with just pants and a duvet cover on the couch with the window open.

Had this for ages with ds1 and 2 but not beyond a few days with ds3. Meant lots of washing of pyjamas.

Yup, I slept on a sweat-drenched towel for eight weeks. EIGHT! Ugh. But then only a few days with DC2.
My HV, GP, and friends all looked at me blankly when I mentioned it; I thought I was broken!

I had this badly with dc1
Not so much with dc2
Not at all so with dc3
And not at night with dc4 but did have real problems controlling my temperature for ages (3mths or so)

I had this for a few weeks- I had to change several times a night. I left a body outline on the sheets so got through loads of towels.
No infection though. I did gain more weight than in this preg and my face looked a bit puffy so I have wondered if it was due to fluid retention in preg as well as hormones.
Hope I don't have it this time!
