Infant feeding

Want to go out - scared it will affect my milk supply!

I have my works xmas party planned for December. I have a management position and my presence is required - plus I would love to go!

It will involve being away for over 12 hours though and overnight... My baby will be just over 3 months and I have been exclusively breastfeeding all this time.

My partner gives her a bottle of expressed milk in the evening (10pm or midnight) maybe 3 times a week so I can have an early night but this is it.

Will I risk affecting my milk supply being away for this long or by 3months things should be ok.

It has been great so far - latch perfect, no 'nipple confusion' and daughter has been putting on weight at record speed so supply must be excellent!

Would love to see opinions and also what you ladies have so far experienced :) xx

No it will be fine - go and enjoy yourself!!!

I went to a wedding without my dd when she was about 4mo and was away a whole day and night and milk supply was fine (although I did go off to express a couple of times!! One night you will be fine!!)

is there no option at all of coming home afterwrads?

i think that if you pump while you are there then your supply should be ok. you will want to pump anyway because you'll be really uncomfortable otherwise.

will you want to leave her though? I couldn't have done an overnighter at that age, although I know others do

I was going to say that too- your milk supply will be fine, no probs at all, but will you not be weeping into your pudding at the thought of being away or are you less pathetic than me

I left DD overnight when she was 8 weeks and had no problem with supply. As for hating being away from them - as long as they're with someone you trust completely (DH or mum for me) and you drink a fair whack of wine, it'll be fine Smile.

thisisyesterday: There is a chance it will quite far from home so I will have to stay overnight.

To be honest I don't want to leave her but maybe by the time December comes I will appreciate the time away from baby since I am not planning doing anything between now and then.

Well reminded about the pump. I have a nice medela one so will make sure I will pack that with me.
