14 week old sleep pattern

dd is 14 weeks old, ebf until 10 weeks and now has bottle twice before bedtime. Bottle at 6, bath at 830, bottle at 9....both about 4 ounces.

She sleeps 930 til 130 then wakes at 330 and 630...... At these 3 wakings she feeds for only 10 minutes, then falls asleep straight away.

Has anyone possibly got any tips or advice on improving this pattern or helping to see why she only feeds for 10 minutes....ie does she actually need these feeds......she does seem hungry in the night, so its not just habit/comfort.

OR should i be ok with this routine, and is it as bad as it looks for 14 weeks?

So many of my friends have babies that sleep through.

Help!

My 14 week DD does about that (ebf) and DS did something similar from memory. It sounds about normal to me! It will get better. Your friends are probably lying. Or "sleeping through" means 12-5! I find this stage hard going - the novely has worn off and you've had 3 months of sleep deprivation already. Sounds like you're doing great smile.

have you tried just a cuddle to try and settle her? if she is only eating for ten mins it could be habbit. i have a 14week old and he has his last feed some where between 7-8 eats 8oz then sleeps till about 6am sometimes he will wake in the night but he will take a whole bottle so is def hungry.

Ive tried a cuddle which doesnt work. Ive tried not changing her too which doesnt work. She feeds but then falls straight back to sleep after only 10 minutes

If she feeds and goes back to sleep, then it's hunger

Keep feeding her - sounds quite usual for a 14 week old baby

how much does she take in that 10 mins?
some people may not agree and i have not done this but have known people that have, they have given cooled boiled water instead as they were only taking a few oz's.
think i must be luck as he normally sleeps for 7-10hrs at night.

I feed her myself on the boob, so i dont know how much she has at 1am or 3am

Lots of babies can take a full feed in 10 minutes, especially by this age and especially if there are no distractions. Sounds like it could well be genuine hunger to me.

Her sleep sounds great for her age. Never judge yourself by what others say their babies are doing. Some lie. Some use the 'five hours' definition of sleeping through. Some mean 'they are in their own room down a corridor and I only hear them once'. On a nicer note, a friend of a friend said they considered their son to be 'sleeping through' once she didn't have to wake up to breastfeed when they co-slept, and some mums are just lucky.

ah ok fair enough. this is normal though so i wouldnt worry about and she will soon grow out of it.
sorry i cant help you apart from saying your doing a good job and i woulnt worry.

My DS is 14 weeks today and is exactly the same! He's slept through twice (9-6) but that was when he was ill so on balance I'd rather be getting up to feed in the night, at least it's quick.

Sounds similar to my 14 week old. He has one bottle of formula (5ozs about 10.30pm) and then I bf him about 2:30 and 5:30/6:00. It takes me an hour to feed him though so am jealous of your ten minutes!
Most of my friends' babies are going through from 11pm to early morning too. I think it's just luck of the draw.
