Expressing for an ebf 5mo

sorry, I'm sure this has been asked million times before, but I'm wondering how much milk I need to express for a feed for my 5month old? She weighs 18lb (8.2kg)

Also, what kind of teats should I get for the bottles? She's never had a bottle before & is greedy a very efficient feeder (most feeds take 10mins), but is also quite sicky, so I don't want to make it too easy for her to down the entire bottle!

Thanks!

I find my 5mo takes 6 oz a feed and being a greedy, refluxy boy we split it 3oz and 3oz with a small gap in the middle.

We use Avent, some people hate them but we find they're do dissimilar to boob it's different enough for him not to get confused.

Thanks frak that's really useful. I pumped 130ml (4.5oz) last night so hopefully it won't take too long to get a couple of feeds worth sorted!!

What number teat do you use? We have avent bottles (they came with the pump & steriliser) but I wasn't sure which number to get.

try this calculator www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/milkcalc.html

The average Bf is around 4oz. The volume doesn't increase as they get older as BM changes.

We use a size 2 teat or a beaker top Smile well done on the pumping!

d'oh! I should have thought to look on kellymom, she has the answers to everything! Thanks Mig

frak a beaker? You mean like this?

I did loads of pumping for DD1, but must admit I was very pleased with 130ml for my first session for DD2 Grin
