Would you use out of date Lansinoh?

Due baby in 4 wks, plan to BF. Have a pretty much full tube of lansinoh nipple cream left over from DD 2.5yrs ago, I had to give up BFing her. Problem is it'll be 6months out of date by the time this baby's born....do you think it would still be ok to use? Don't want to spend another tenner if BF might not work this time either.(Please don't suggest using it as lip balm or on my knees and elbows, I find it too sticky and yuck for that!)

I wouldn't as it could be growing bacteria esp if open. Not worth the risk of it going in newborns mouth. But then I have a medical background and tend to be cautious.
