Stopped bfeeding 9 months old DD about 2 weeks ago. Been fine, no real soreness or anything then today one boob is really sore and tender mainly around the nipple. Looks fine but hurts to touch??

Just thought is was a bit too late for any pain etc...

I hand expressed a little bit in the bath as was so sore and that helped a bit but any suggestions?

Same thing happened to me after stopping with DD, but in both breasts two weeks after stopping. I expressed a bit in the bath and after a few days the pain and hard lumps went away. I was worried as I'm prone to blocked ducts and mastitis, but it was fine.

If it gets any worse - or doesn't get better soon - might be worth seeing your doctor. Any redness at all?

Thanks for response The OldestCat

No not red but felt lumpy earlier, better since bath and hand expressing.

Will keep an eye on it.

Feeling at bit emotional too, DD been really poorly this week with high temp and cold....soooo guilty Sad first time she has ever been ill and its 2 weeks after I stop feeding her.

How are thngs now?

Please don't feel guilty. You've done an amazing thing - you should be very proud of yourself.

I know how you feel though as I cried buckets when i stopped with DS last month. He's my last baby so That didn't help!

Hope DD is feeling better.

Aww thanks

DD is loads better now, her temp did get up to 39.6 so I ended up in a and e with her, it was an ear infection, poor baby Sad

And I'm fine now, had to hand express at work on Friday morning (in the disabled loo...lovely!) but things settled down over the weekend and boobs seem to be back to normal now.

She is my last baby too...would love another if I didn't have to ever be pregnant again (HG..its horrendous)

Thanks for advice and support, despite all this troll craziness on MN at the moment...its still brilliant!!

x
