Stopping feeding at 18 months ...

So DS2 has just turned 18 months and over the past month or so, we've cut back on feeding, slowly cutting out a feed a week. I fed Sunday once in the morning and fed once this morning. I'm making this morning his last feed (although DH is joking that I'm now down to alternate days, then it will be once every 3 days, once every 4 days yada yada).

I'm relieved that he is drinking more water and cows milk now and the transition seems to have gone OK and he's been better than I thought with distraction and food! Anyway, I'm desperate to go and buy some nice undies, but wondered whether to leave it a while, if I might change in size? Anyone know how long it might be until they settle down?

I'd leave it at least a month sheep.

Thought you might also like to see this smile.

Aww, thanks Jilted. Feel a bit emotional about it all (AF has hit today, so probably doesn't help!) tbh. I always said a year, then 18 months and I am ready to stop, I feel chuffed and lucky we've got to this point, but I'm ready to stop now. Still feel a bit sad though!

Can sympathise, when I stopped feeding DD it was hard as I knew she'd be my last. Doesn't help that 2 years later she still asks for it.....

oh no jilted, that's not what I want to hear - 2 years later!
this morning was the first morning ds2 saw me first (other mornings dh has got up with him, got his breakfast, cup of milk etc) and he hasn't seen me until after he's had a full tummy!
this morning, he went mad when i started going downstairs and trying to get to me, but when i gave him his beaker, he calmed down. hoping it won't continue to be the one and only thing on his mind at 6am.

Sorry about that sheep. She was never going to self wean though, she was utterly in love with bfing and would still have me pinned to the settee all day if possible.
