what is the six month growth spurt like?

DD is six months next week and the past two nights has been waking much more than usual. She bf and is having two meals of solids, just porridge, fruit and veg purees at the moment.
I feed her almost every time she wakes. I leave her for a few minutes to see if she is going to go off again and if not I get up and feed her.
She had been going from 7/7.30pm to 3.30/4am then sleep again until 7am.
She woke four times and didn't go back to sleep after 5am this morning.
If it was a growth spurt wouldn't she be sleeping more, not less?

it depends - my DD went through the nine month group spurt and was waking up quite bit. I think they get hungry as they use up all their energy growing. My friend who is health visitor advised that it might be worth giving my DD a bit of food before she goes to bed. It sometimes works. Not sure if this is helpful

My DD had a classic growth spurt at 6 months. Suddenly she was waking every 1.5-2 hr in the night (after usually waking only twice) for a feed.

It usually lasts 2-3 nights while your milk supply responds to her stimulating it. Then she'll go back to her usual pattern.

I have to say though, that DD would settle straight back to sleep after a feed during her growth spurt, and, for her, usually if she doesn't settle it's for another reason (sickening for a cold, teething or something).

We've been weaning lately, and a couple of times when she's been unsettled at night I opted (in slight desperation) for a dose of calpol in case it was a bit of tummy ache or something. I'm sure it takes them a while to get the hang of food in their tum.
