making up formula on holiday in spain?

My DD will be just 8mo when we go to Spain in Aug. My HV mentioned that there is a certain Evian water that has less mineral content and I should use this to make up her bottles.

Does anyone know which one she means? Also should I boil it first? & what about drinks of water?

I live in Italy and here there are certain brands of mineral water which are certified for formula preparation - lower mineral content, and sterilised (no need to boil). All of that is indicated on the label and there is a baby picture. It might be similar in Spain.. How about using ready made formula?

Ok thanks I will look out for that. She still has four 7oz bottles a day so wouldn't have enough room in my suitcase for all that, and not sure if they do SMA in Spain.

You still need to boil the water to sterilise the powder though, even if the water is already sterile.

use bottled water with the lowest sodium content you can find. You should still boil it as you need the water to be hot to kill the bacetria in the formula powder.

Evian is apparently the only one recommended in the UK to make up bottles as its mineral content is consistent.

You will still need to boil it of course.

Do you use bottled water here in the UK? if you don't, your child may be having far more minerals than she would get from the average bottle of purified water.

I was in Ibiza last month with my four month old. I used their local bottled wtaer and obviously boiled it as I would at home. The name has just escaped me, I'll have a think but as a previous poster said there is a picture of a baby on the side indicating the low sodium content. I'll pop back on if I remember the name.

Timeoutofmind: I am from Spain but live in England. I have breastfed DD but my friends in Spain that have given formula all had been adviced to use BEZOYA by their doctors as it has less minerla content than any other waters. Fontvella is ok but has more minerals than BEZOYA and I don't think it is what you arlooking for.

I know everybody says to boil the water but all my friends used to prepare the bottles without boliing the water (mainly in summer) which surprised me as it was the opposite advise here in Enland. However I have to say their children are completely fine. They also give their children BEZOYA for drinking. DO NOT give your child water from the tap as in most places are impossible to drink. I would even advise you not to drink water from the tap. No one in my family drinks water from the tap and in most houses they even use bottle water to cook. It will depend on where you are going.

I never drink tap water when I am in Spain so definitely with not give any to DD.:-)
