can I take baby formula powder in hold/hand luggage on aeroplane?

We are moving countries and want to take a couple of tins of powder with us on the aeroplane to use at the destination country. Is it safe to put it in hold luggage? I'm thinking of the very low temperatures and wondering whether it could damage the powder? If so, is it possible to take a couple of unopened tins in my hand luggage. My baby is fed breast and formula, so not a problem when flying (i am going to breast feed exclusively during the flight).

Thanks fro your help!

I've taken a big tin of SMA in my check in on a 12hr long haul. It was fine. I bought small containers and put premeasured amounts of formula in them for the flight. Saves a lot a hassle. All you have to do is ask stewardess to fill the bottle with bottled water and tip it in. There isn't a lot of space for measuring out on a plane.

Oops. Just noticed that you're breastfeeding on flight! Disregard half my advice.
