I seem to be having a glass most nights and am bf dd. Just need a small one at end if a long day. Does it get in breastmilk? Not talking a bottle of vodka here, just a glass of wine.

It's fine. Alcohol does get into bm but in very small quantities.

I have the odd drink and my local breastfeeding advisor says you can have two units a day. About 175 ml of normal strength wine

Thanks all. Sure it's better than the alternative. Gave up the silk cuts but boy I miss them sometimes. blush

I think the official advice is one or two units once or twice a week.

I personally take this to mean an inch of red wine every night grin

The official recommendations are very conservative. Alcohol leaves BM at the same rate as it does the blood and does not 'stay in the milk'

I too have a small glass every other evening or which I mean really small - an inch or so. I think it's absolutely fine particularly for helping you to relax which can only assist with feeding.
