DS and I both I'll, can I take paracetamol and give him some calpol?

DS3 is 7 months old. We've both got colds, runny noses, his is clear, mine is not. He's generally out of sorts and looking sorry for himself. I've got a banging headache, hot and cold, just feeling rubbish really.

So can I take some paracetamol for my headache, and assuming we've got the same thing give DS some calpol. I know I could probably search on the Internet but I'm having my own little pity party and was hoping some kind person on here would know.

(have just realised I haven't mentioned earlier in the post that I'm breastfeeding and can't get back to the beginning of this post on my phone to add that in)

Thank you!

I've bfed 3 other DC but I really can't get my sinussy brain to engage today.

Off for paracetamol and then turf DP out of bed so I can go and be 'properly I'll Smile

Damn phone won't let me be ill!

Rita, I was thinking of something I'd read about certain meds becoming concentrated in breastmilk and then worrying that I'd overdose DS3 if he had calpol too. And then I'd also read that the guidelines for amount of calpol children can have is changing too.

Believe it or not I'm actually much more relaxed with DS3, I'm blaming the lurgy!

I think paracetamol is pretty much the safest painkiller you can take, and they underestimate the amounts of calpol they recommend you give.

I've just looked it up on Lactmed, and it seems if you take 1g paracetamol, the amount that gets through to the baby through milk is equivalent to 0.5% of an infant dose of paracetamol.

Thanks Rita, that's the sort of cold hard figures I was looking for Smile

I'll keep a note of LactMed, sounds like a useful site for when I'm having pfb moments in case I need to take any other meds.
