first night out

hello i am new on this site. dd is 6 weeks old and im breastfeeding. im 22 at the weekend and i want to go to a concert next week my mum is happy to have baby and she has took expressed from her dad before. but will she take it all night?? my mum lives up the road should i stay there??? and go back to feed or is will she be ok til next early morning e.g 7am!! im worried or should i not drink and go back to feed?? i want to enjoy my night but not be worried about her!! please help!

Go to the concert, have a drink but don't get hammered, your milk will be fine. Go and stay at your mum's overnight instead of going home. Your LO will be fine. If you stay out all night your boobs will leak everywhere and be very uncomfortable. You may have to go and hand express a bit during the night too.

If your dd is happy to take a bottle then I'm sure she will be fine with your mum. You'll need to leave about an oz of expressed milk for every hour you're away, plus a couple of oz extra just incase.

It takes about an hour for each unit of alcohol to leave your system, so although only a small amount of alcohol gets into your milk you might want to leave a few hours between your last drink and your next feed. Depending on how long you are out for you may need to express milk while you're out for your own comfort, and then dump the milk.
