I am ebf, and have found it ok so far,
My ds has silent reflux which has always been a challenge on the ears & sleep, but feeding and weight gain have thankfully not been an issue -however - in the last 36-48 hrs hes being fussier than usual when feeding - maybe only 10 mins tops then droping off to sleep for 5 mins and as a result is screaming for food & windy (painful for him & screams) more than usual - aswell as sleeping less than usual at night because he isnt full enough to sleep long
I would give him a bottle of ex b milk, to try to encourage him to take more before bed, as have done this before, but have none available as I'm away from him this saturday and so its all frozen for then
Is this likely to be a 'phase' or worsening reflux. Hes on gavisgon, and I saw the dr this mornign for rpt script, and said it didt seem any better but she offered nothing else
I took him to a cranial osteopath last week and have another session thgis week but dont know what else to do and worry about how uncomfortable he is & the state hes getting in - possibly driven by the fussy easting again??

I think it very well could be both, DD went through a fussy stage at this age but she didn't have reflux (would have been nice to label it). There are other drugs to try for reflux e.g. ranitidine but I'm sure others will come along with more info on that. Alternatively check out the reflux support thread.

Can you defrost some ebm and then express more later in the week?

thanks both, just bangs head in foolishness realised this has coincided with his gavisgon dose increasing and I think the poor guy is constipated Sad time to try cool boiled wazter to relieve that now... does it ever get easier?:!!

it just gets different. No that's a lie, it does get easier but never gets easy. Things don't seem as though you have the whole responsibility on your shoulders. Every decision at that stage feels so important.

When DD stops her fussy stage it was amazing, we finally got to the stage where feeding was easy (and didn't involve 2 hour crying sessions in the middle of the night for feeds and still having to go to work the next day).

Hi, have you been in touch with any bf supporters or counsellors to get your latch checked etc? Also are his stools normal? It is good he is gaining weight however, I would be inclined to getting attachment and things checked as I suspect there could be more going on. I think they have a growth spurt at this stage?
It WILL get easier with a but of support or time and give yourself a pat on the back for getting so far with this :)
