Introduced formula to 6mo want to return to BF

After a particularly nasty D&V bug last weekend I was tired and dehydrated and my milk seemed to have dried up on Monday.

So bought formula and have given 6 month old DD 3 x 200ml cartons every day since, so for 5 days. I've continued to BF morning and evening and several times during the night, I've also put baby to the breast before formula feeds today and she has taken less formula. Now that I'm feeling back to normal I want to give up the formula and go back to BF.

My question is do I have to do this gradually or can I just stop the bottles and go back to BF for every feed? My boobs definitely seem less full than they were a week ago and don't want to starve DD!

She'll up your milk soon enough. Whatever you formula feed, your breasts will accommodate so the more formula you give, the less breast milk there'll be.

I would just add a breast feed each day/every two days (as you would decrease one each day/two days when weaning.

I woudl just let her feed on demand and from you whenever you can once you get it established again.

I had a drastic drop in milk supply when ds was 6 months due to him being ill and not wanting to feed. I thought I might need to give him some formula when he got his appetite back as my boobs felt so small and empty but they managed to get back to full production really quickly and he didn't need any formula.
You may be able to cut out the ff straight away but if she seems still hungry that do what vintage suggests

When you offer bf, make sure you offer both sides and you can then go back and offer a third / fourth side straight afterwards. That should have the effect of helping your supply increase again and will reduce the amount of formula you need.

You'll probably need to have plenty of quiet feeding at home for a few days so your LO can up your supply again.
