ds is 5 mths and for last 2 wks+ has had cold / gastroenteritis virus. Been offering more breastfeeds but he doesn't always take. He's been very upset with it - screaming a lot, wants to be held (only by me) all day etc.

Seems a little better now. Last 3 nights has fed and fed all evening and night - I'm shattered but figure I should go with it as he needs the calories and comfort.

NCT helpline said it may be him trying to up my supply? Any experience? Please say it will settle soon - only just coping before all this. Am I do the right thing?

Ds did this at 4 months. He lost a pound in weight over about 10 days because of a bad cold that made him reluctant to feed and throwing up most of what he did take. When he got better he started feeding like a newborn - every 3 hours through the night but he also put the pound back on in one week and climbed right back onto his centile line so I guess he knew what he was doing.

I think it lasted about a week max and then he went right back to sleeping through the night so hang on in there!

Thanks Suzikettles. He fed every 3 hrs BEFORE he got ill so now it is more like feed for 45 mins, sleep for 15 mins, feed again. Am also worried about his weight. Great to know it was temporary.
