tender boob

Hi,

am after some advise.

Dd is 15wks and bf. My right boob is very sore under my arm pit and am worried I might be getting an infection.
I've been feeding her from both sides as normal (she does seem to prefer feeding from the left though) and she has now developed a
bit of an upset tummy -lots of sick and dirty nappies.
Could my sore boob have made her unwell?
Should I just feed her from the left and express the right?

tia

Poor you corona, does any of this sound like what you are experiencing here?

Yep, sounds like a blocked duct or whole wedge of the breast. And no, that is not what is making your baby unwell, although if she has been feeding less/less from that side, that may have triggered the problem.

Do not stop feeding from that side, in fact feed LOTS from there in an attempt to clear it. If you can try and have baby'c chin where the blockage is, that helps to.

The link to Kellymom gives you lots of information on what to do to clear it.

FWIW, I have always found that it was the baby that cleared these for me, not the pump.

If you feel unwell, fluey, feverish then seek medical help pronto; mastitis is no joke.

Good luck Smile.

Glad you found it useful. Like Pacific says, keep feeding and get medical help straightaway if you feel unwell.

Good Luck Xmas Smile
