I am looking to update our branches (NCT) breast pumps. We have Ameda and Medela but for new mums who need for whatever reason to really build up supply quickly I was wondering what were the best most powerful pumps?? Any experience or suggestions??

Many thanks!

The Ameda Lactaline is great imo

I used and loved the Medela when in hospital with DS. Found it great to get the milk flowing and the adjustable suction option was good in the early days.

I think that one is compared to the Eliet which we have. Thank-you though xx

Thanks allstar. Which Medela one did you use?
was it this one Fpw2S523VNdzEpmH5enYFDL8=&h=1567&w=2400&sz=140&hl= en&start=0&zoom=1&tbnid=MGXbia74epw-iM:&tbnh=138&t bnw=211&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dmedela%26um%3D1%26hl%3D en%26biw%3D1345%26bih%3D635%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&it bs=1&iact=rc&dur=741&ei=7svVTJjnCMmztAb429yACA&oei =7svVTJjnCMmztAb429yACA&esq=1&page=1&ndsp=19&ved=1 t:429,r:4,s:0&tx=181&ty=76

Yes. It was great as it came on wheels and made it easier to position myself for a good long pump. I also thought it was really simple to set up and start pumping. It took seconds to get going.

Medela symphony. Used it to express for DD1 for 14 months. Have been using it alongside breastfeeding DD2 for the last 9 months. Two phase expression brilliant, and pretty easy to clean.

I've very much enjoyed the medela lactina. Surprisingly light, but I don't have anything to compare it to. I almost cried when I sent it back.

Another vote for medela symphony. I had one on loan from hospital when DS born v. prematurely this summer. When we switched hospitals due to lack of cots, the new place had the Ameda pumps and I hated them so much that I used to actually bring the symphony (still on loan from hospital 1!) in from home.

Another vote for the medala symphony. I also used it for my prem baby and then hired one afterwards until I finally got round to buying (also a medala but this time a freestyle). My DS was readmitted to hospital just after he came home and we then ended up in a paediatric ward. I tried the avent then, and although I could still yield abouit the same amount, it was much much more fiddly to use.
