Nystatin dose for newborn?

DD and I have been diagnosed with thrush (a diagnosis that has really helped my mood, knowing there's a problem beyond me just doing it wrong). Been given a prescription for canestan cream and nystatin drops.

They were both on the same prescirption so I gguess the chemist thought they were both for me -- anyway, the instructions from the chemist say 4 times a day for the drops. But the leaflet in the box says once a day for newborns.

Anyone know?

Nystatin drops are normally prescribed for 4 times per day even in newborns.

1ml squeezed in to his mouth after feeding. Try and rub it with your finger in to the affected spots - in mine it was worst in the corners of his gums. :)

Don't worry - whilst looking horrible it should all clear up very quickly.

I seem to remember giving them before every/several feeds but was definitely more than once a day. Ds1 was 6 weeks old at the time.

Sorry, should've said 6 x per day.

It's 4 times a day for a baby with thrush.

The once a day dose is a preventative dose.

Put the dose into a spoon and use a clean finger to sweep it around baby's mouth. Don't bother with the dropper or syringe as it will just come straight out again.
