I loved all the post apocalyptic stuff best: Brother in the Land, Plague 99, Empty World, Children of the Dust etc...but also all the Point Horror, Christopher Pike as well.

What camp were you in?

And does anyone remember one where a teen girl could astrally project herself? It's annoying me.

Yes, to all the post apocalyptic stuff! I also remember one called 'a rag a bone and a hank of hair' which gave me the creeps.

yy to Z for Zachariah, that was a good one! Also Calling B for Butterfly, Andra, Pardon Me You're Stepping on my Hamburger, Killing Mr Griffin....

isn't it weird how books can stay with you for so long?

I loved Sweet Valley High/University.

Also a big fan of Point Horrors.

Anything by L.J Smith from The Vampire Diaries to The Forbidden Game series.

Anything with vampires or shapeshifters was a must read.

Stranger with my face - was that the one with a rich woman who lost her daughter, and this other girl who looks just like her kind of takes over her life?

[Envy] at having most of the Point Horrors. I only have a few.

My favourites were The Stranger. The Cheerleader and April Fools.

They're making a film of Z for Zachariah, with Chiwetel Ejiorfor as Loomis and Margot Robbie as Anne.

Just remembered that I also loved the Cheerleaders series. Also a series of books called Freshman.

Lois Duncan did various books about different extrasensory things, including at least one with astral projection, possibly more. I really liked one she did where girls in a very small school were receiving art/music etc from famous dead artists/composers etc in their sleep and the woman who owned the school was taking credit for it. Ended with a fire somehow.

Down a Dark Hall was what it was called, just remembered.

I've just finished reading Brother in the Land with my year 7 English class. They loved it. It's not too dated yet!

If you liked the post apocalyptic stuff did you ever read the 'Tomorrow when the War Began' series by John Marsden. It's an Australian one so not all that well known but absolutely brilliant. I have the full set just waiting for my children to be old enough to appreciate them.

I was an obsessive reader between the ages of about 8 and 17. I still have thousands of books but lack of time and the invention of the internet mean I read a lot less now Blush.

Ummmm, other favourites:
Mary Downing Hahn - 'Wait Till Helen Comes'
Penelope Farmer - 'Charlotte Sometimes'
Ian Strachan - 'The Throwaways'
Deborah Hautzig - 'Second Star to the Right'
Malorie Blackman - 'Thief' and 'Hacker'
Ian Serallier - 'The Silver Sword'
Pamela Brown - 'The Swish of the Curtain' series
Steven Levenkron - 'The Best Little Girl in the World'

Lace

(I was a teen in the 80's and haven't heard of any of these except Z for Zachariah)

Ooh, Second Star to the Right - was that about a girl with anorexia? Rings a bell.

I liked that teen series that had white covers with a yellow and black barcode-y logo on their spine. Favourites were The Outsiders (S E Hinton) and a book called Easy Connections about a girl who fell in love with a rock star.

Also Dear Nobody (Berlie Doherty) and the Across the Barricades series - about Kevin and Sadie (I think).

And all the Caroline B. Cooney ones! Point romance maybe? I came across one during a library lesson with a class the other day and spent the entire lesson holed up in a corner reading it.

Also loved Judy Blume and Paula Danziger.
