Used to be an avid reader but since DD (now 1) arrived & back at work I have only read one book. Seem to struggle getting into it.

What would get me reading again?

Like stuff like: life of pi;time travellers wife, classics like gone with the wind;rose tremain, margaret atwood etc etc.

Get me going again ladies!

I've recently read The Book Thief, The Witching Hour, (all things Anne Rice) all the Twilight books (seriously, as a grown woman I could not put them down - my friends put it quite nicely - 'viagra for middle age women'), Running with Scissors made me cry laughing. My friend (an avid reader) is desperate for me to read Gone with the Wind (she says the book is amazing... if you liek the classics.....)

Recently I have enjoyed Audrey Niffenegger's new book "Her Fearful Symmetry"; loved Ann Patchett's "Bel Canto"; anything by Sarah Dunant; Amanda Craig's "Hearts and Minds", Kate Atkinsons' Jackson Brodie quartet which starts with "Case Histories"; Lionel Shriver's "The Post Birthday World".

Thanks all.

I popped past the library and picked up Robert Harris and a Margaret Arwood from 2009 that I hadn't heard of. Here' s hoping.

Will follow up on your suggestions-glad to hear Audrey Niff' s new book is good.Ditto will look for Lionel Shriver- 'Kevin' is still one of my top reads! Book Thief- been there and loved it!

Happy reading!

The Mistress of Nothing by Kate Pullinger

And am currently reading Starter for Ten by David Lodge
Which Margaret Atwood did you pick up from the library?

Just finished Started Early, Took My Dog by Kate Atkinson - fab, one of the Jackson Brodie's mentioned in previous post. Mind you I love anything by KA. if you've not read Behind the Scenes at the Museum, get it!

Other goodies:
Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffeneger - brilliant, loved it.
The Help by Kathryn Stockett - another good read
The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters - fantastic read, quite spooky.

And have just started Fingersmith by Sarah Waters and I'm really enjoying it.

Hope you get your reading mojo back soon - mine went AWOL a couple of months ago and I was lost without it :)

Ever tried Isabel Allende - if anyone can suck you into reading, she can.

I love Kate Morton's books, they are un-put-down-able :) and they really take you off to another place. The Forgotten Garden and The House at Riverton... she has a new one out too but not in paperback yet.

Would highly recommend!

On 5th anniversary trip to Paris, I warned my DH I would spend Eurostar trip reading greedily, as starved of books by demands of babies. I chose Prospect Park West by Amy Sohn. It was perfect, though slightly rude, so beware (or buy immediately).
