Went out for a meal tonight with my DH and we had a disagreement about something then he said oh It's alright if I pay the bill then, I said I would pay the bill but I've only got twenty pounds how much have you got? Knowing that he had several hundred pounds in his wallet and he said "but you don't work" which is true but I'm retired and do all the housework, shopping, cooking etc. I really wanted to tell him to stuff his money where the sun doesn't Shine it's so humiliating to have to rely on someone else for everything, I feel like getting a job but can't imagine where to start.

Don't feel embaressed. It sounds like you do plenty. He could easily afford to pay and it is extremely miserly to begrudge this. Really if you are a partnership, why does he leave you with so little? You are married which means your assets should be joint ones.

Re. Looking for a job, you can make a start anywhere. Agencies, ads in the paper, job centre, websites. You've nothing to lose. In the meantime why not sell unwanted stuff from your house?

That's rough, disrespectful and just plain mean! You are his equal, and he should treat you as such. There is more to contribute to a relationship/household/family than just money! Cut yourself some slack and be kind to yourself.
