Putting blog on facebook

I've written something I'm quite proud of for the local parish mag which I am editor of. It's like an unmumsy mum type of thing about a typical morning as a sahp, to try and help the magazine appeal to young families. I'm quite pleased with it and thought about sharing it on my facebook page and seeing what people think. I hardly ever post anything on there. Only have about 300 friends but many of whom are parents and it might give them a chuckle. Is it a good idea? Do I write it in a note then share it? Complete novice here!!

If you're proud - Share it!

A little note 'I have done a piece for a local magazine, about being a SAHP, here it is for those who want to read!'

Good luck on your response!

Yeah I suppose that sounds a lot but you know facebook, probably only a handful of them actually would care to read anything I post!

Still can't quite bring myself to post... I'm terrified of putting myself out there in case someone says it's boring. I have a lot of respect for bloggers who do this!

Does this magazine have website? Did it publish your article? If yes, then it's very easy, you just put a link on your facebook page, FB will get preview automatically. Usually it's better to write something before this, like: "look, it's my article published, please, comment below".

No one will say it's boring. You will get compliments, possibly some points that people agree/disagree with, and likely a few shares too. Post it!

The magazine is only in print and very local. I plan to put it in the next issue which is July but as none of my friends on facebook are likely to read it I could post it on there sooner. My DH just read it and really liked it but pointed out that it's not wise to use DC's real names and also not to include the toilet training disaster parts in the local magazine as it might come back to haunt DC when she starts school here. So much to think about. I don't think it's as funny without those bits. I am way too cautious to be a blogger!!

Some people use real names (not surname), some - don't. Never use the location even though the locals would be able to figure it out anyway. As for names as long as aware of the problem and made informed decision, it's OK. Then the problem is - using the images. Let's say you use pseudonym, but photo is photo and the faces are easily recognisable...

Anyway, think about it. As for publication, you have another option. And you could tell your local magazine as well, maybe they don't know about it. There is a site issuu.com. You could open free account there, load pdf and it will show it like a book, something like this: issuu.com/mums-dads/docs/mums_dads_56web
As an author, you could ask if you could have your article in pdf the way it appears in the magazine and ask if it is OK with them to put it on issuu (on your account under your/your pseudonym name). Or, if they're going to do it on their own, you could link directly to the page in the middle, where your article is shown. Or, don't ask them for pdf, ask if it is OK tu put it on issuu and make pdf on your own, with all the credentials ("this article was published here and here").

Thanks so much. I posted it in a note on facebook in the end and got an amazing response so I've decided to start writing a blog, using tumblr. Very excited!

Well done - share and you will be surprised by the response. People love to see what you are doing and don't forget that it all starts with your friends and family - all 300 of them!

Keep doing it x
