Hi, I am moving from Torquay to Sidmouth in July. I am really concerned about making such a big decision and would like to know if any parents could offer me some advice about what sort of place Sidmouth is and what it is like to live there. I have a 13 year old son and an 11 year old daughter. Is there things for them to do? What are the people like? In general am i better to stay in Torquay or move to Sidmouth?
Please help :-)

My dad and my 14 year old sister live in Sidmouth and I think it's a lovely place. Very good schools. I don't know Torquay at all though so I'm afraid I can't compare.

Thanks that's such a relief to hear. I am so worried that the children won't have much to do as it's quite a small town. Here in Torquay they have many places to meet friends but there is so much violence and drugs. I want my children away from this. What is there for teens in Sidmouth do you know? :-)

There is a cinema, a few shops, a nice leisure centre and lots of sports clubs. I'll ask my sister. She does seem to always be darting here and there so there must be something to do! Smile

So, in typical teenage style my sister reports that there isn't much to do. She:

Plays hockey
Plays cricket
Does street dance
Swims
Cycles
Horserides, and
Is doing the Ten Tors challenge.

Social time is spent at the shops, on the beach, in the cinema, swimming or in Exeter.

Thank you :-). That's really helpful. I don't know why I'm worrying so much? It's so stressful trying to do the right thing... :-)
