Klaxon! Jo Brand to join us at BlogFest

Hooray - the fabulous Jo Brand will be giving a keynote speech at BlogFest! She's a comedian, writer, actor and (occasionally scurrilous) national treasure, and we're absolutely thrilled that she's going to be joining us.

Other recently-announced guests include roguish commentator Toby Young, who'll join Stella Creasy MP and Richard Bacon to ask 'what kind of internet do we want?'; authors Lionel Shriver and AL Kennedy, who'll talk about crafting a perfect narrative; and feminist icon Charlotte Raven, who'll help us tease out the answer to the question 'can you be a 'mummy blogger' - and still be a feminist?'

Plus the lovely Tim Dowling, the twinkly Prof Robert Winston, and the very wise Prof Tanya Byron - not to mention stylish politico Louise Mensch, gimlet-eyed commentator Glosswitch, and campaigning big guns Jack Monroe, and Laura Bates of Everyday Sexism.

It's shaping up to be a brilliant celebration of sharp writing and big ideas - so do join us on the 9th November at the suitably swish Kings Place in central London. Hurry though - tickets are selling fast, so book now to make sure you're there on the day!

That's a bit harsh isn't it?! It's her job to speak in front of audiences. So your comment is like lashing out at a plumber for always showing up when someone asks them to install a bath. She's just a good old pro, surely.

Plus of course MN fits quite well with the kind of performer and person she is. I'm sure there's plenty of work she'd happily turn down.

(I have a soft spot for Jo Brand. Not always the funniest but she has been soldiering away successfully for decades, starting at a time when being a woman comedian was very much harder even than it still is today.)
