Parental stress!

Hi all,

I am a mother of a little girl aged 4 and have another on the way. I relocated from England to Northern Ireland (for my husband!) 5 years ago and have had little parental support. My little girl seems to be going through the teenage years already and I sometimes feel at my wits end! lol

I decided to study a Masters in Psychological Research methods also, as I am glutton for punishment! But I decided to focus my dissertation project on parental stress, child difficulty and social support. I am hoping to get participants to help me complete a questionnaire so that I can look at the need for more parental support more seriously. Please would you take 10 minutes out of your day to help me gain data for my research? However the questionnaire is for parents/main carers of a child between the ages of 4 to 8 only.

I would really appreciate it. Also I look forward to hearing your feedback and maybe starting a discussion about anyone else experiencing teenage-like behaviour in their 4 year old!

The questionnaire link is below:

Thank you so much, Alison :)

A lot of questions do not have an option like "I don't know", "I wold not accept" "I would not ask" so if people who would choose all of the above complete the questionnaire they would click randomly, as I did, and the results will not give you real picture.

Or, and another thing, some of the questions refer to the situation which is normal for 5y old, like not always sharing but 8y old should already handle it (the way we expect).

Thank you Zanuda,

Your comments are very useful. The questions used are from 'tried and tested' questionnaires from subsequent robust studies. But that is very useful feedback of them, and certainly your comments will be considered in the evaluation. Yes the age of the child will be a good indicator of whether their behaviours are expected and the scoring of the questionnaire and analysis does allow for this.

Thank you for taking the time, I do appreciate it.

I've completed your survey, hun. I've stretched the answers slightly... in that, while my family members would definitely help me with anything if I was really ill, my family members are not actually local to me! But I selected the best fitting answers. HTH x

Thank you so much Fcknits!

That's ok, if you don't have the family members there then I suppose you lack that side of the support - a little like myself!

I really appreciate it though. Ax
