Do You Have A WP Blog? Is It Secure?!

Whether you use WP.com or self host, there is currently a huge attack on WP going on.

If you have a WP blog and have not deleted your Admin user, do so now. You'll need to create a new user, log out of Admin and back in using the new user and then you can delete the default Admin user that is created when you started your site.

And here's some advice from WP about chosing a strong password.

Tee2072 - can you tell us more about this please? I have more than one a wordpress.com blog and was under the impression that these are relatively secure - it is the .org/self-hosted that are more at risk. Also I am not sure what you mean by deleting the Admin user - I AM the administrator and can't delete myself!

Sorry, meant to put this link!

I do believe I was distracted by a 3 year old. Grin

When you register your blog, .com or self hosted, you are given a default user name of Admin. This is the user you should delete by creating a second administrator account, under a unique user name with a highly secure password...I see I remembered that link. Smile

Very interesting article - good advice for everyone. I'm certainly not using the default account. ;)
