I have looked at wordpress free package and it looks a little bit boring unless I do not know how to use it. With blogger you can change the background of your template for free. It is easy to manage it and you can also monetise it. Is it possible to do it with wordpress?

Not sure what you mean by monetise, but there are lots of different and free templates/designs with Wordpress, and I imagine there are some where you can't change the background colour (you can with mine). I find Wordpress very easy to manage - it's very simple to use and adapt to what you want.

Thanks flubba. Sorry, I meant to write Google Monetize. If you blog gets a good traffic then you can add a widget to monetize it. You will then receive money for your blog visitors clicking on adverts.

Ah, sorry, don't know whether Wordpress offers something like that. The rest of Wordpress is good though, IMO.

If you want to monetise your blog on wordpress then you have to go self hosted (which a lot of people do) I think on blogger you can only do google monetise and no other way of making cash? Could be wrong on that one though. Wordpress has the ability to do lots of fancy stuff, although many of us (umm....ok me) find wordpress to be a bit of a git at times. I'm sure someone will pop along in a min who can work it though! The biggie for me though is that if you use blogger then google own your content. If I write something then I expect it to belong to me anything else takes the pee a bit. Hope that helps!

I originally started my blog on Blogger but lasted two posts before I moved quick smart over to Wordpress. I absolutely hated it. I thought the layout was ugly, the interface clunky and difficult to use and just ugh.

I find Wordpress much more attractive and easy to use plus it's easy to completely customise layouts and make it all more personal. Altogether, to me, it just feels, I dunno, more professional.

As for the 'monetizing' thing - you can add a Google ad-sense plugin to self hosted Wordpress blogs. I haven't though as I think adverts look ugly and used to pay extra when I was hosted by Wordpress to get rid of them amongst other things. I think plenty of people go for it though although I don't know how much they make. I can't imagine it being very lucrative though!

Ultimately, I think people just go with whatever works best for them. There's no competition going on between the two - seem people find Blogger better for their needs and others prefer Wordpress. :)

Thank you ladies. Monetizing is not the most important thing to me as I do not like when the blog looks too messy because of the adverts. Though, I would not care about those adverts if they helped me to pay the bills. He-he. I think you can control which adverts to have. They are not random.
For now I can only choose free blogging but I would hate to have stupid adverts under my posts.

I have seen many pretty blogspot blogs. One of my favourite one is How about orange.

howaboutorange.blogspot.co.uk/

The blog is run by a very talanted lady. I really like what she is doing. Would not mind to own some of her creations.
