Thisisaeuphemism it's a BRILLIANT photo isn't it? I think it must have been during his heavy cocaine and hard liquor years. It is the only thing which would explain that expression. I love Stephen King, and On Writing was my bible for a while - I carried it everywhere.

They demanded our passports and seemed to pay very close attention to mine. We were in a taxi on a coast road, miles from anywhere and I was getting more and more uncomfortable. The two policemen conferred and then one of them lent towards me and said,
"Happy Birthday for yesterday."

He'd been working out my date of birth. I was so relieved I nearly laughed myself into the next birthday."
