Your days of chopping herbs are over (!). Enter Gourmet Garden Herbs and Spices' competition to find the best Blogger-Chef by 7th December, and you'll receive a pack of Gourmet Garden goodies to cook with and blog about. They're inviting keen cooks to share recipes which feature the Gourmet Garden Herbs & Spices products during a Blog Off between 26th November and 15th December 2012. Competing blogs will get a razzle-dazzle spotlight on the Gourmet Garden site too.

4 finalists from the Blog Off get to test their skillets at a live London-based Cook-Off, judged by one of Britain's much loved TV chefs - soon to be unveiled - the winner will be whisked away on a fully-funded trip to the Cook Off Conference in Australia in May 2013. The trip includes flights, a five night stay, a tour of some fine food attractions and a professional video of the cook-off. What's more, the winning blogger will receive £3,000 for a 12-month ambassador partnership with Gourmet Garden!

So what are you waiting for? Sign up for the competition by the 7th - on your forks, get set, GO!

It does sound amazing. Watch out for number 13 in the T&C though. What exactly does that 1st sentence mean??:

It just occurred to me that I signed up for this but haven't seen my herbs yet. Aren't we suppose to be cooking with them by now?

midnightexpress I will assume it means those specific blog entries about the competition the spices, not your entire blog. Although it is fairly vague!

Finally got my herbs. Now to figure out what to cook with them...

daisy4mae · 08/12/2012 11:30

Ok. So how do we let them know about our blogposts? I'm confused (could be the sleep deprivation...)

Report
TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 10/12/2012 09:58

I don't get it either daisy. There is no @, no #, no subject line they want, nothing. And if we were suppose to start cooking on 26th November, how come I didn't get my hers until 5th Dec?

There also isn't a place on their site to look at the blogs.

This has got to be the worst organized thing I have ever seen.

I have created my blog post, but have no idea how to promote it? Deadline is the 12th!

PorkyScratching · 10/12/2012 18:14

There appears to be a list of entrants here but Ihave no idea how you get on the list! Plus some of the links to blogs I clicked on had no recipe - I am very confused!

Ignore that, it seems to be an old comp I think.

The whole thing is very strange.HQ, do you know anything?

Report
TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 11/12/2012 21:12

I've just sent Gourmet Garden a message through their contact page to ask what is going on.

It actually closes the 15th, Porky.

TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 12/12/2012 11:47

I've heard back from them. They are keeping an eye on all the blogs that have registered and a list should be going on on their site soon.

I still think it's being done very badly!!

You need to go to the UK site and the UK part of the competition is there. I've just realised I've got two days to blog my entry!!

Report
Stitchthis · 14/12/2012 22:49

I've done the first part of my entry

Report
Stitchthis · 17/12/2012 06:46

Did anybody else enter?! I've heard nothing...

Report
PorkyScratching · 17/12/2012 17:49

I did but also have heard nothing back.

daisy4mae · 17/12/2012 22:11

Me too. Not sure what's going on!

TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 17/12/2012 22:15

I got one email saying they were manually following all the blogs that had entered and we'd be notified when they were on their site.

I must say I am not impressed so far.

Report
TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 18/12/2012 06:49

Sorry, I just read what I wrote and it's wrong!

What they said was that if you link to their site, they will be notified that you've done a post and will go look at it. No tags, no @, no #.

Really badly done in general. I don't hold out much hope for this comp.

Does HQ have any thoughts? Are you sponsoring or just promoting?

I ended up emailing links to my posts to the guy whose name was on the letter that came out with the herbs. Fairly unsatisfactory all round I'd say

Report
TeeElfOnTeeShelf · 18/12/2012 08:27

I've reported this post to HQ to see what they know.
