How important are "Linkys"?

I have been blogging for about 6 weeks and i am trying to increase my page views and followers. How important is it to join or start linkys? I am a mother of 2 young boys and my time is really limited. What do you think are the most important things to do to increase readership. (other than good content)

There just seems so much to do, but so little time!

My blog is: littleboyred.blogspot.co.uk/

Many Thanks,
Angela

Hi Angela,
The only one I really do is silent sunday. I've tried a couple of others (blog hops etc) but they didn't really do much for my stats and to be honest I find some of them a bit...dull so I only really link up if its something I've written about anyway.
I do wonder sometimes how much value they have? Yes, if you're a newbie they can help you get a couple more hits but sometimes it can all feel a bit 'lets just go comment on other people's blogs so they'll comment on ours'. I do silent sunday becuse I like popping a photo up on my blog occassionally and like you say its hard when you don't have much time!
ps, if you do want a hand at all PM me, only a few months into blogging but I like to help others if I can!

I was wondering the same thing actually, have seen quite a few regular linkys and badges to go with them and was wondering about creating one myself. I do Silent Sunday but I didn't even know it was a linky lol, can you let me know where I can link it to? my blog is //www.planet-family.com
I started a weekly (usually) post called Treasure Box Tuesday which is basically showcasing any kind of personal treasures for kids and adults, whether you own them or not. I was contemplating making it a linky but need to research how to set it all up as I've just gone self hosted, which has affected my blog views as no traffic from Wordpress.com anymore :-(
