Come and tell me about your host

Hi everyone,
I'm new to mums net blogging (although I've been on MN for a few years).

My blog host is Blogger, but I don't like the way I can't reply to individual comments and some other things.

So, please come and tell me about which host you chose, and why?

Here's my blog sparklingbay.blogspot.com/ by the way, where I blog about parenting a toddler with a montessori twist.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, watching with interest. We are with blogger too - //www.northlondonmums.com - but I don't like it much either as it is not very flexible on some things. We have thought about moving to wordpress but not done anything about it yet.

Hello donttry

Love your blog! Am a total blogging newbie but you may know me as a fellow Corkonian from the March 2010 antenatal thread Wink. I set up this user name as I'm not quite ready to go fully public on my blog yet (it's here if you're interested!).

I blogged with blogger years ago and really liked it initially, but found it frustrating in certain ways. Partly because most of the other blogs I loved were on wordpress and I developed blog envy Blush. This time I've gone with wordpress. And so far I'm liking it a lot. Very easy to use, but yet also easy to fiddle with. Satisfying.

Hope all good with you and your gorgeous girl. I'm pregnant with no 2, which should be a March 12 baby but if I go as overdue as first time it's more likely to be an Apr baby!

Looks like we should move to wordpress then northlondonmums!

Hiya lowimpactmama great to hear from you and congratulations!! Wonderful amazing news! I do keep meaning to drop into the antenatal thread but i just felt a bit funny when pixie left so suddenly, plus I ran out of things to say. Will pop back soon.

Will nose at your blog, impressed (from initial nose) at your twitter and Facebook links and all.

Any other advice from the blogosphere?

One of the upsides of blogger is that you can use shabby blogs templates (I'd link to it but for some reason it's not opening for me at the moment). I've seen some gorgeous blogs customised with free stuff from shabby blogs - makes me Envy! I'd have to upgrade wordpress in order to use their stuff and want to wait before considering any sort of upgrade.

Donttry the links to twitter and FB are just widgets that I can drop into my sidebar - comedy easy (I am quite low on the tech savvy scale Grin). FB is a new experiment but I'm enjoying Twitter a lot. PS twas odd when pixie left - it's quiet now but lots of old regulars stilll (I lurk more than post).

Re Blogger blogs - you can import a comments system such as Disqus or Intense Debate (I personally use the former) and it gives you a full moderating system with spam catchers. You also have the threaded (reply) comment facility plus different ways for your readers to "log in" to reply (twitter, facebook, guest, etc).

You can see Disqus in full use on my blog here

Thanks lowimpactmama and typecast. Some great suggestions there. Now maybe I should stay with blogger.

I use wordpress and find it really easy. My blog is //www.judewharton.co.uk

My husband also uses wordpress for his and he's a web designer. Wordpress would always be his Content Management System of choice and he has used lots!

Hope this is useful and good luck!

Just opened all your blogs so off to have a look at them now :)

Jude
