Have I been rejected?

FeelLikeTweedleDee · 31/07/2011 21:35

Hope someone can shed some light on what happened to my application.

Last month I applied to join the Mumsnet Bloggers Network but did not receive a confirmation email or any emails at all. I waited a few weeks and then submitted my application again. On July 11th I received email confirmation that they had received my application. However I have not heard anything since.

Does this mean I've been rejected? Is it 'normal' for applications to take over 3 weeks to process? What would cause a blog to be rejected?

Dunno. I didn't get an approval for mine but it appeared in the list. Have you checked yours hasn't? :)

It's not there :(

I applied weeks ago too and have heard nothing, so have just assumed I've not made the grade. That's okay, I'm doing fine without being part of the network but everyone else seemed to be applying, so I thought I would too.

Yes, I think perhaps it is normal for it to take that long. If you do a bit of searching around on threads I'm sure you will find posts like yours, followed by posts from MNHQ reassuring them and saying there is a large backlog.

I can't remember details but I've definitely seen a couple of posts along the same lines. And my own app took weeks to get approved and that was before the backlog got so huge! Try not to worry.

I really hope I get accepted as it was Mumsnet that inspired me to create a blog in the first place. Of course I will carry on blogging regardless, but being accepted to the network would be a 'badge of honor' and inline with the focus of the blog.

Either report this post or send them an email to get their attention.

They really need to set some timeframes for approval.

I sent in my application on Wed, so I'll see you all in three months if I'm lucky!

Seriously though, I wouldn't mind hugely about not being accepted, I know my blog is quite niche, and it certainly doesn't claim to be the best writing around (or whatever the MN tagline is!).

But it would be a shame not to be a part of this bloggers forum, have got lots out of it already.

Hi FeelLikeTweedleDee. Well, I'm feeling pretty darn Blush about all this. But please don't worry - it should be me that's shaking. To answer Tee earlier: we will get back to everyone within the week, either way. I know I sound like a broken record, but it's taken a while to clear the backlog because we've been having so many chats with bloggers about their work, and because we want this to be good. Every case is different and we're trying to honour that. I can imagine how frustrating that sounds, and I apologise again for not moving faster. But I really believe it will pay off for the network in the longer term, and it will be sorted out very soon.

Now: your blog! I'm just digging through the inbox now, but it's unclear which one you're referring to. Can you bear to send it over one last time, with a bit of a hint? If you can let us know who you are, we can check it out with the url. You'll hear back from us as soon as we're aware of your email.

Love your blog, Feellike. Am following you on Twitter.

The post about people putting tea in baby bottles made me shudder. Why would anyone do that?

FeelLikeTweedleDee · 01/08/2011 15:37

Thanks MmeLindor.

My mum suggested putting tea in a bottle for my daughter. It's very oldschool.

My FIL used to put honey on my niece's dummy. He never did with our DC (I hope)

Honey? Ouch! That's lethal (literally).

A woman in M&S cafe advised me to put jam on DS's dummy once. He was approximately 4 months old at the time. I can still hear her ... "A wee doat of jam on the dummy, that'll cure what ails him" with lots of serious, vigorous nodding.

Elinor, thanks for this. Will we get an actual email saying that our blog has been accepted by Mumsnet, or do we check back the bloggers page ocasionally?

Thanks, just wondering about this.

Cheers!

Hi ScatCatShoo - Thanks for asking this. You'll get an acknowledgement email when we get your application and we'll send a welcome note when we've checked it out and it's a fit. We're working through the final batch this week and are happy to check yours out ASAP if you send us a quick email letting us know which one you are. Thanks for your patience.

Hi everyone, just thought I'd add my experience here. I registered my blog on 20th July and am still waiting for it to be processed. I've had a few nice emails about it and there doesn't seem to be a problem with my blog, but there must be a processing problem, as the people who email keep asking for my patience and the last one started with "Yikes"... usually a sign that there's a bit of a spanner in the works! I am now accepted into the network, but the blog's still not on the list... I imagine it will take some time to configure the feeds. I want to see my face on Mumsnet :) I have my shiny new badge though...
