What sort of stats are you getting?

Just wondering what are the average number of visits for your blog? Mine is new, non-professional looking, parenting/craft/blather type blog. I'm wondering what is a good number of visits is?

I get between 50 and 150 page views a day, but it's taken a while to get to those figures. When I first started I'd barely get any hits at all.

Wow Chickens, that's fantastic.

My blog has been going since late spring. I had a phase of getting 50 or so, even up to 100 occasionally, and a stellar day of 214 when someone (not me!) posted a prominent link to my blog from a MN thread!

But I have been busy recently and not posting as often or publicizing my blog via Facebook or anything, so it's dropped a bit. I do get more Google hits than I used to, though. I suppose because my posts are adding up in quantity and themes are emerging.

I've been blogging for pretty much, ever. And I still only get about 30 - 50 hits a day. But I have done no advertising or SEO or anything.

My best day was 100. grin

I promote everywhere I can. So, twitter, Facebook, articles I write etc etc. My blog now shows up as the first google result for several searches.

My best day I got almost 100 pageviews. Normally each blog I post gets around 20 or so. (and that's since MN!)

I'm deffo one of the smaller fish out there.... grin

Thanks for the replies. I've been going a week and am averaging 20-30 hits a day. I don't do face book and twitter, are they essential to networking? How do they help?

Cinnamon220609 Tue 26-Jul-11 19:40:13

Mine automatically updates on Facebook when I make a new post, but I only get maximum of 50ish on a good day. My best was 76 July last year.. Haven't been able to beat that yet!

I find that twitter helps, because you can hash tag the subject of your post. Then if people search, they can find it.

Well done setting up your blog, 20-30 hits a day after a week is great.

In answer to your question about twitter yes I think it helps massively, I get loads of traffic from there. I do not get so much from FB, but still some - every little helps.

My blog is pretty established now and I get around 400-500 page views a day when I have new content, it drops to around 200- 250 a day when I don't. Bear in mind that the summer months are often worse as people are away or too busy.

It takes a good while to get a stong readership and that is often through promotion but do remember it is not essential. If you have 20 readers a day and they interact and enjoy your blog then that is a success.

Stats - my favourite obsession!!

Any amount page views is good. In fact, no page views at all is good if you enjoy what you're doing. It's your choice to put your thoughts and words on the internet.

My blog has been running as "Typecast" (it's been about four other names over the years) for two years now and I get between 300 and 600 page views per day depending on whether I've posted or not and the most I've had in one day is 1001 (i was so chuffed at that, I took a screen shot LOL) - but it was a contentious subject.

It's lovely to see the regular readers returning and obviously to get the comments too but it's well known that only bloggers comment on blogs - readers just do exactly that and (hopefully) return the next day.

I used get those figures and then I started joining link up parties and then hosted my own ( - combination of which have boosted my numbers significantly.

I can highly recommend link ups (esp if you are crafty or foodie)

Twitter and FB also helped alot.

Stats only matter to you or if you are trying to get sponsors/ advertisers, though some sponsors don't seem to care.

Ohh Maggy, we don't want to know your stats, we would all be snivelling in a corner!

(In fact I am sure you have told me them before and I shed a small tear! lmao)

Help! Am I really that old that I can't get to grips with Twitter and blogging?!!! I've successfully set up a blog but I'm really not sure what I'm doing in the linking a twitter account to it. My blog is self-hosted through Wordpress. Any suggestions at all really welcome. Is there an especially good 'Blogging for Dummies' link anywhere? My aim is to build a following for my blog as i'd eventually like sponsors. Thanks in advance!

DillyTante Thu 28-Jul-11 20:04:03

Pregnantcitygirl you might be best off starting your own thread to get specific replies, or try asking on this thread smile

Thanks for all the replies. I've been thinking this through a bit and decided I don't want to get too embroiled in this networking malarky and obsession with stats. Mine is a craft blog and I'm finding I'm spending more time blogging and networking than actually doing stuff to write about. So if I come across blogs I like I'll link them and if people are interested in what I'm doing then that's great. I don't want them commenting just so I will comment on theirs.

Thanks all smile

Mich - honestly.. I SWEAR by link up parties parties, twitter and facebook and general networking.. I put same amount of time in for networking as I do writing posts.. but that is ME..

Others may not want to do that... everyone has priorities and I want to grow the blog so I network. Others are writing for fun/ themselves/ family/ the odd review and that is fine too ;-)

Don't snivel. Passes a hanky. And gives a hug ;-)

I use both the wordpress stats and google analytics. But to be honest, they both differ slightly and I use them as a guide to see how I am doing week on week etc.. where I have peaks and what caused the peaks (i.e. can I repeat that)

I think you have to take them all with a pinch of salt.

Clicky isn't bad either.

Thanks DillyTante thats exactly what I did.

Frugalfamily Thu 28-Jul-11 21:41:46

After going through a bit of a stat obsessed phase I try not to check them very often but I've just checked the last 7 days and I've been getting between 500 and 800 page views a day. I've no idea how that compares to the top blogs but thats probably for the best lol

What is good? Av 9000 a day would still be too small for advertising wouldn't it? The person doesn't want any ads. Still I am curious.
