I have just had the dreaded phone call from midwife to say i have a high risk of having a baby with chromosonal abnormalities with a risk factor of 1 in 32! I cant help but feel im going to have a baby that is that 1! i have a app. 2moro to have a cvs, and am petrified! i had my 12 week scan yesterday and the only marker i had was triscupid regurgitation, which means a leaky heart! Im only 22 and think b-cos im so young and now have a high risk, then its going to be a bad result. Anybody had a cvs or similar experiance? i would appreciate the replies. thanx.

I've never had a CVs but I wanted to bump your post as I'm sure someone with experience will be along soon.

I had similar odds with last pg (1/29) but they didn't look for any other markers other than the nuchal fold at the baby's neck.I opted for the CVS too. The procedure itselft is painless. I just felt like a pulling sensation and it lasted about 5 seconds. I was advised to rest for 24 hours after the test. TBH afterwards for a few hours it felt like I had been kicked in the gut. We had our results the following day and all was ok.

It was a hellish few days. I really hope everything turns out well for you. Good luck.

thanks. the thing thats making me worry is because my hosptial is linked with kings college research, is they were looking for other signs. and i think b-cos the odds dropped from 1/1048 to 1/111 to 1/32 all in 24hrs its petrified me into thinking there must be something wrong!

all cvs comments look good so far, thanks.x

I was given the same odds at the grand old age of 25! It was a horrendous few days waiting for the results, but thankfully all clear.

Amniocentesis was fine, am sure CVS will be similar

Best of luck

Hi Zara please try not to worry, when i was 19 and had my tests i got a 1/9 chance, like you was so worried in a right state

But everything was perfect, once reading up and talking to people it is so common to get this and everything be fine.

Good luck
