(Posted this is the old thread, but thought I'd re-post here too)

Wow, just caught up on the last 10 pages (is it just me or are we the most prolific antenatal bunch on here?) and two more babies! And possibly more than that! Huge congrats to Sarah. Think I already congratulated P&P. Hope you're all enjoying lots of snuggles

MummyElk you asked about the "bathroom lady", that was me. It's all finished now, still not entirely happy but at this point I'm just glad to have them out of the house so I'm learning to live with the "imperfections". They touched up the bath with enamel paint; it's not perfect, but it'll do for now. My Dad has been here this week doing lots of little DIY jobs, bless him. My Mum has a bet that the baby will arrive while he's here; he's leaving tomorrow though! Actually I think I could cope with the baby arriving now (I'm 38+1). Would prefer that to having 4 more weeks to wait..

Caitni I think I saw you mention that you're booked in to the Whittington but now I can't find your post to confirm it. Sorry if I'm mixing you up with someone else, but anyway.. me too! Hoping to use the shiny new birth centre, it looks lovely. And I also have a to do list, actually an Excel file, divided up by room Am slowly getting though it, and finally feel like if the baby arrives soon the house will be in a reasonably organised state.

Shroomer sugary things really set my heartburn off too, but I don't have the willpower not to eat them It seems to be getting much worse now too; maybe just more relaxin in the run up to the birth?

Hope everyone else is doing well... I'm going to have a look at the postnatal thread.

I googled "check dilation at home" and apparently it is possible for DH to try and do it! I.e. stick 2 clean fingers up there and try to feel for the cervix opening and see how much he can stretch his fingers apart inside it... As we don't want to go to hospital too early. Has anyone ever attempted this?

Not tried that, anna but I wouldn't be adverse I'd only be a tad concerned about the cleanliness of the fingers/under the nails. Still, with DS (2nd DC) I had a vague twinge, waters went and upon immediate exam I was already 4cms. DS was born 1hour 40mins later so I hope I won't have to worry about when it's right to go to the hospital...

Eep. Saying that, I'd been induced with prostin. As I had with DD. I've never gone into labour naturally and so maybe I won't know...

THIS is why I refuse to think about all everything - too many variables I can't control! Denial, all the way!

Great new thread title!

Agree that we're extra prolific...but we're now at the most exciting time!

BusyMissIzzy hey my fellow Whittingtononian!! I'm actually booked for a home birth, but under the care of the Whitt, so if I do transfer in it'll be to there. One of my NCT friends just gave birth in the lovely birth centre on Tues and had a very positive experience - she had a water birth and all three then spent the night cuddled up together in the double bed in the room. Sounded lovely ...so you must be a norf laander too then? We should arrange a norf laandon meet up once we've had our babies. Glad to hear I'm not the only one with a room by room list (even if mine is actually scrawled out on a piece of paper - old skool!).

Anna I'd also not be adverse to self exams/DH examining for dilation but if the waters had gone then I think I'd use surgical gloves. But if waters hadn't gone then I think clean hands would be fine. In fact, I've been checking my cervix regularly over the past week as I find it all quite fascinating...

manda that shoot sounds cool, though I think I'd also have taken the goody bag and legged it - a long old day so best to leave before it stops being fun! It'll be lovely to see the pics once it's live.

DrSkid hope things are good with you?

Just had a lovely coffee with one of my best friends who's off for two weeks of work travel on Wed...quite mad to think that I'll almost certainly be a mum then next time I see her. Made me feel quite emotional .

just marking my place! well done anna!

Good news busy about the bath - i can't remember if i said it but almost the exact same happened to me just beforeDD was born and they had to come back and redo the chips, we don't notice them at all any more - as you say, at least it's done!
Whittingdon sounds lush, DOUBLE BED?!!! blooody lovely!! That's better than the kick out the delivery suite door that DH got at 430 in the morning?!!!

i can't remember what i have and haven't written, lurking is not a good look for me at present because i forget what i would have said if i'd been bothered to write it...
needless to say all these arrivals are very exciting and have had the positive effect of at least making me scrub the car seat in preparation of. Of course it DID lead me online to research the price of a nice double pushchair + car seat etc.....Mildew is such a BAD look for a newborn, i'm sure DC2 would rather a shiny, new, isofixxy car seat to snuggle up in...... .......

Just marking my spot.

Oh and congrats to Sarah! Caitni I've been advised to go up a cup size for the nursing bra, but I'm just going to stick with the expandable one for the first few weeks then get something fitted. I'm wearing the expandable one now and it really is better than my soft cup fitted pregnancy ones.

Sorry about people dropped off the list, I was just posting what I thought was the latest one... hope everyone is back on now!

Wow Caitni, you've been examining your own cervix? I don't know if I dare to, maybe I'll try and see if I can find it.

When I started telling DH about examining my cervix we suddenly got in the mood for some lovin'... which was nice as I'm usually always too tired these days. Anyway, after there was a little bit of pink blood. I know I said I want my baby slighly early but not this early. So I'm hoping it's nothing.

Just been out charity shopping, we always get so much good stuff in those! One of the best finds was a book about commercial aircraft for 99p for DD as she loves airplanes. And some really cute Next stuff too, almost new looking. Charity shops are great for kids clothes.

Anna my, er, intimacy with my cervix comes from my ttc days (cervix was one of the things I used to check for charting) but not too sure if I'd be brave enough to see if I could actually insert a finger or two (especially as I'm not sure I even want vag exams during labour - worried it may demoralise me). I didn't go try to check it til last Sunday, when I tried to see if I could feel it but couldn't (it was v high). But it now feels a lot lower, softer and shorter (god, sorry, that is way too much info ). Glad you got some lovin' - pinky tinge after sex is normal for this stage (according to my preg book). And clever you with the charity shop bargains

Mummyelk I reckon the lure of t'internet shopping would be too much for me (I am weak when it comes to buying baby things ).

Rinders I don't think there's been a sign of DB but there's a good chance it's just because settling in after the move has been hectic and perhaps their internet wasn't sorted for a while...either that or she's got her hands full with a newborn too

Anyway, I must away back to my mammoth cleaning session.

I've just made 20 gingerbread men and gingerbread babies with DH - is this nesting ???? Certainly smells nice..
We started making them because I bought some Gingerbread curtains from M&P, and one of my siameses has taken a violent dislike to the gingerbread men on the curtain, he jumps up and tries to kill it every so often - so I threatened him with a gingerbread army

Nursery done, but no furniture, just my ebay bargain nursing chair and an old chest of drawers, moses basket from friend. Stalking an Amby on ebay - any ideas how long realistically a baby would stay in an Amby?

Caitni at your flexibility - even when TTC i could never reach my cervix - much less likely now - perineal massage seems like a yoga session
Also double bed sounds ace in birth centre

has anyone tried an NCT nursing bra? Worth the money? I really need to get it sorted too!

Definitly swap laptop for cute monsoon baby things!

Take advantage of your enforced rest x

Ooh, a new thread to go with our new babies! (And with the bonus that I can actually post using my phone again. The old one was too long to allow me to add a message.) Many congratulations to rebecca and Sarah - and envy, envy, envy of your birth experiences. I bet we're all wishing for similar!

Too much to comment on but, IWCAS, your quilt sounds gorgeous. What a lovely friend. And, Siamese, was it you who was asking about how long you can use an amby for? We got 7 months out of it with ds. He never learned to turn over in it, which I think is why lots of people move their LOs out, but he did manage to sit up. Cue us rushing out to buy a cotbed!

Not much to report here. Insomnia still horrid and having massive amounts of pressure down below, which I don't remember from last time. 38 weeks tomorrow and expecting still to be here - tired and with underneaths threatening to fall out! - in 3 weeks' time.

Just marking my place in shiny new thread - yes, very apt title !

I am dead on my feet, just tidied the kitchen after invasion of 2 sets of friends with 4 boys between them which brought our total male child count to 7 in this house this afternoon...
The noise levels were impressive, but no bones/bone china were/was broken .

Re NCT bras - I had them for DSs1 and 2, they are v comfy and nice cotton ones, but not maybe the most supportive for those of us generous of nork . Also they have a relatively broad elastic under the boobs which I found always kinda rolled up in a most unflattering manner in the underboob skin fold .
I remembered name of my 'current' and to be reused Bfing bras: Bravado and they are fab!

Night-night, all. Hope Mumbot is getting lots of cuddles (and some sleep).
